A Legacy of Care Since 1974. Dr. Kay W. Gilpin was the Founder of Shenandoah Veterinary Hospital in 1974. He is married to wife, Judy Sweeney Gilpin, and they have three children and eight grandchildren. Sons, Darin L. Gilpin, DVM and Brian D. Gilpin, DVM are the current administrators of SVH, and daughter Julie Stafford serves as a Client Care Specialist. Dr. K. Gilpin graduated from St. Marys High School in 1965. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from West Virginia University in 1969. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1972
