Coats Veterinary Hospital is a female-owned and led practice dedicated to providing thoughtful, compassionate veterinary care for pets and the people who love them. Since opening its doors in 1997, our privately-owned hospital has grown into a collaborative five-doctor practice where teamwork, experience, and genuine care for animals guide everything we do. We provide comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats in Rocky Mount and surrounding communities all under one roof

Coats Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in 1997. Dr. Leigh H. Walker earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, joined Coats Veterinary Hospital shortly after graduating, and trained under and worked alongside the practice's founder, Dr. Coats, for more than six years. In January 2013, she purchased the hospital, carrying forward Dr. Coats' founding vision of a lasting community-centered small business that exists for the good of its patients, its clients, its team, and the broader Rocky Mount community. Our expertly trained veterinarians graduated in 2006, 2009, 2013, 2018 and 2019 from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine, Auburn University and St. George's University
