We are a full service, family owned, small animal veterinary hospital serving the Traverse City community since the 1950s. Our mission is to provide the most comprehensive, compassionate, and personalized care to our clients and their cherished animal companions. Our services are designed to provide routine preventative care for young healthy pets, as well as early detection and treatment of diseases as your pet ages. Grand Traverse Veterinary Hospital was established by Dr. Richard Kratochvil, D.V.M. in 1953 and moved to its current site on Veterans Drive in 1961. Conveniently located between Downtown Traverse City and the Grand Traverse Mall, the new location allowed for owners and their pets to access top veterinary care, right in their own neighborhood. In 1973 the building was remodeled to its present dimensions, and in 1988 was purchased by Dr. David Burke, D.V.M. During the summer of 2014, the practice went under new ownership to Dr. Jane Alexander, V.M.D. and Dr. Jeffrey Krysinski, D.V.M. In January 2021, Dr. Marr and his husband, Richard, purchased the clinic. They moved from Denver, Colorado back to Michigan as Richard is a native, growing up in Bay City. Since their arrival, the hospital has undergone numerous updates and the plans continue!
