Our hospital opened its doors in 1979 and offers a wide range of medical services and surgeries for dogs and cats in Mid Coast Maine. Our team is dedicated to providing the best care possible for your pets, and in 2013 we were proudly certified by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) – only 15% of small animal hospitals achieve this accreditation. Dr. Laurita had been a member of this practice for more than 20 years; he attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (zoology degree, 1981), completed his DVM at Cornell University in 1989, moved to the midcoast area in 1990, and was founder and director of the NPO Hope Elephants, a circus elephant retirement home in Hope
