East Metro Animal Emergency Clinic was formed in 2007 by several local veterinarians. The veterinarians were each treating their clients' after-hours emergencies at hospitals across the area. Together, they decided to share the work of after-hours calls by opening East Metro, a centralized clinic in Covington. All patients were welcome to receive urgent care when most practices were closed, then sent back to their respective hospital the next business day for follow-up care, if needed. In 2023, EMAEC joined All Care Veterinary Network (ACVN), a local network of clinics in the heart of Georgia Southeast Atlanta. The network hospitals are connected to share resources to provide the best patient care. Through technology, EMAEC can access medical files and collaborate with these network hospitals. We also continue to work with all other hospitals to provide urgent care for pets across Southeast Atlanta. No appointment is necessary; patients are seen on a walk-in basis and treated based on urgency
